About the property:
The apartment block is only 3 minutes from the famous Yumbo Centre. Our flat is at the back of the apartment block overlooking an area of bungalows with the sea in the background. It is very quiet with noise from traffic or the street.
There are two swimming pools and two tennis courts on the complex. On the ground floor there are a number of good restaurants and also a 24 hour clinic. There is 24 hour security on the complex.
Playa del Ingles main beach is about 10 minutes away and the entry to the dunes through the RIU Palace about the same. Local buses stop outside the apartment complex and will take you wherever you want to go on the island.
Tour operators also use the complex including gay tour operators.
The majority of the guests are heterosexual in the block but can also be very popular with gay guests on occasions. Most of the flats are one bedroom and noisy groups are very unusual.

Playa del Ingles is developed around a number of 'centres' one of the largest being the famous Yumbo centre, almost next door to our flat. But don't forget the rest of the island. The north is worth a visit and is much lusher, for an island only 50 kilometres wide there there is plenty to see and do, for example walking,trekking, biking and much more...
There is a lively evening and night scene in Playa del Ingles with lots of nationality bars and restaurants. There is a Las Vegas style casino with shows. For a more sophisticated time Meloneras is a great place to go, with the 2nd best hotel in the world being here.
Playa del Ingles boast a gorgeous 3 kilometre beach with sand dunes that reach heights of over 50 metres.
There are plenty of beach bed and quiet areas to be found a little way back from the sea. There is also a short stretch of beach that is an official nudist beach.
The Palacio de Congressos in Maspalomas hosts a number of events throughout the the year and are enjoyed by most of the town.
The Carnival which is usually in February is one of the largest on the island and very colourful. The Gay Pride event is held in May which is spectacular which is a spectacular show with parades galore.

About: Playa del Ingles
Playa del Ingles, meaning 'The Englishman's beach' is situated in the south of Gran Canaria, the resort is one of the largest and busiest in the Canary Islands.
Playa del Ingles has a pedestrianised promenade (Paseo Costa Canaria) stretching along the sea front and the area is a mixture of apartments, shops and hotels, purpose built for pleasure and good value. Playa del Ingles is aimed at the younger holidaymaker but having said that families and older tourist still come here for the beautiful weather and the wide sandy beaches that stretch from Maspalomas to San Agustin.
There are plenty of fine shops in Playa del Ingles with the majority being confined to the Commercial Centres of which there are over a dozen, each one having its own character. The famous Yumbo Centre is by far the most popular! On Wednesdays the San Fernando Market is held and Restaurants and Bars are plentiful, especially in the Kasbah centre, where you'll hear dance music being pumped out of the famous Cream and Pascha nightclubs until the early hours.
Other places to visit are Chinawhites, the Hippodrome, Havana and Sugar. There are English and Irish centres too which are also entertaining.
Playa del Ingles inparticular the Yumbo centre, is orientated towards the gay scene with regular drag acts shown at Rickys Cabaret Bar - quieter bars can be found along the sea front. Local activities include mini golf, most water sports, arcades, golf, go-karts, horse and camel riding, banana boats rides and much more...
Local attractions are: The Crocodile Park, Sioux City a Wild West theme park, 3 water parks, a Museum and Reptile land.
